The Vidya Social Empowerment Center (VSEC), a unit of Vidya International Charitable Trust has been given an immense contribution to the holistic growth by conducting empowerment sessions to the deserving society. As a continuum, an activity oriented session to introduce the topic “Functions” in Mathematics was at SOS Village on 11 May 2024.
The session was spearheaded by Dr. Siju K C (Head of VSEC, Asso Prof, AS Dept) who was supported by enthusiastic student volunteers from various engineering disciplines.
The primary focus of the session was to introduce the basics of math functions and the different types of functions to the children through interactive and fun activities. The session was designed to be both educational and entertaining, ensuring that the children could grasp the concepts while enjoying the learning process.
Activities Conducted:-
1. Introduction to Math Functions:
– The basics of math functions were introduced to the children using simple and easy-to-understand language.
– Different types of functions were explained.
2. Interactive Learning through Games:
– The children were divided into small groups.
– Functions were presented to them in the form of numbers.
– Student volunteers acted as ‘function machines’. When given an input number by the children, the volunteers provided the output, representing the function’s result.
– The children noted down these outputs and engaged in discussions about the functions.
– Dr Siju K C and the student volunteers provided a comprehensive explanation of all the functions at the end of the activity.
– This helped reinforce the learning and clarify any doubts the children had.
– To wrap up the session, various math-oriented games were organized.
– These games were designed to further enhance the children’s understanding of math functions while ensuring they had fun.
Impact on Participants:
For Student Volunteers :
