VSEC organizes SPORTEENOVA Inter-School Quiz Competition

“Sporteenova” was an Inter-School Quiz Competition organised by Vidya Social Empowerment Centre (VSEC) on 29 August 2021 and conducted in the online mode. The day 29th August was special, it being the National Sports Day in India and also the birth day of India’s legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. The quiz was themed on sports and related fields. As many as 417 students registered for the competition of whom as many as 345 participated.

SAP organises Photography Contest for school students

As part of the activities under the auspices of the Science Awareness Programme (SAP) Project, and also in association with Vidya Social Empowerment Centre (VSEC), Vidya organised a Photography Contest based on the theme “Parents Day”.  The contest was open to all school students from 8th to 12th standards. The poster for the contest was released on 12 July 2021 in social media, facebook and Vidya website. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Akhila R (AP, EEE Dept), SAP Convener.

“Develop a Health Champion”

It was a programme organised by Vidya Social Empowerment Centre (VSEC)  and was targeted at the school students and students did indeed participate in large numbers in the programme. The star event of the programme was a talk on the theme “Develop  a Health Champion” by Mr Joby Michael M, Physical Director, Thiagarajar Polytechnic College, Thrissur and a Fitness Trainer. The programme was conducted at 6.30 pm on 10 July 2021 via Zoom platform.

Motivational talk on Effective Parenting

Dr Rema Raghunandan started her talk with the definition of “Effective Parenting”. It basically means how to raise one’s children into remarkable and socially acceptable adults. It deals with the overall development of children—that is, their physical, mental, emotional, social, and cognitive development. She presented the various parenting styles, such as authoritative, permissive, authoritarian, and uninvolved. She stressed the aptest one — authoritative parenting. In this type of parenting, children will be able to build up self-confidence, decision-making skills, social commitment, independence, responsibility and coping mechanism.

Training for student volunteers of Vidya Social Empowerment Center (VSEC)

Vidya Social Empowerment Centre (VSEC) is an initiative of Vidya International Charitable Trust (VICT) to serve as an umbrella body to coordinate the activities and to provide direction for the further strengthening of several social outreach programmes of VICT. The VSEC organised a three-day training programme for the student volunteers of the Centre during 20 – 22 May 2021. The members of Sameeksha, the Vidya Trainers Club, served as the resource persons for the training programme.

Inauguration of VSEC and MaSC Quiz Prize Distribution Ceremony

Vidya Social Empowerment Centre (VSEC) is a new initiative of Vidya International Charitable Trust (VICT) to serve as an umbrella body to coordinate the activities and to provide direction for the further strengthening of several social outreach programmes of VICT aimed at the uplift of the weaker and marginalised sections of society and also at providing support for personal and career advancements of meritorious youngsters.

Vidya Social Empowerment Centre (VSEC) conducts empowerment programmes for school children

Vidya Social Empowerment Centre (VSEC) is an initiative of Vidya International Charitable Trust (VICT) to serve as an umbrella body to coordinate the activities for strengthening the several social outreach programmes of VICT. The Centre was formally inaugurated in an online function held on 23 January 2021 in the presence of Mr V P Nandakumar, MD and CEO, Manappuram Finance Ltd. Recently, the VSEC conducted an online quiz christened as “MaSC” (for Mathematics, Science, Computer Science) for school students. The quiz attracted participation of more than 500 students in the 6th, 9th and 11th standards studying in more than 40 different schools in various districts of Kerala.

Vidya Social Empowerment Center organises webinar on National Education Policy 2020

Vidya Social Empowerment Center, a unit of Vidya International Charitable Trust, organised a webinar on National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 on 11 January 2021 at 1.30 pm. There were 135 registrations for participation in the webinar of which a majority were school teachers.  Around 120 participants attended the webinar presented by Ms Akhila R (AP, EEE Dept) and Mr Alex C Chacko (AP, ME Dept).  Er P K Asokan ,Chief Patron, VICT, inaugurated the webinar. Principal Dr Saji C B gave an insight into the NEP 2020, Dr Siju K C, Head of VSEC, welcomed the gathering and Dr Vineetha C P, Associate of VSEC, proposed the vote of thanks.

Mathmagic – A session on Mathematics by Dr Siju K C

Dr Siju K C (AP, Applied Sciences and Humanities Dept) delivered a talk online on “Mathmagic” for 8th standard students of Gurukulam Public school, Venginissery on 19 December 2020 between 4 and 5pm through Zoom Platform. The talk had been arranged as part of the student’s empowerment program. The School Principal Ms Rema K, Management Committee Member Dr K R Rajan and 8th standard coordinator Ms Anjana lead the Program.
