It was a programme organised by Vidya Social Empowerment Centre (VSEC) and was targeted at the school students and students did indeed participate in large numbers in the programme. The star event of the programme was a talk on the theme “Develop a Health Champion” by Mr Joby Michael M, Physical Director, Thiagarajar Polytechnic College, Thrissur and a Fitness Trainer. The programme was conducted at 6.30 pm on 10 July 2021 via Zoom platform.
Dr. Siju K C, Head of VSEC, welcomed the audience to the session. Mr P N Unnirajan, Director of VSEC and Director of Administration, VAST delivered the director’s message. Following this Principal Dr Saji C B shared his message with the participants. Mr Suresh Lal, Executive Director, VICT delivered the inaugural address. As many as 139 persons from 51 institutions participated.
Mr Joby Michael M talked about how important it was for every person to become a health champion irrespective of his/her age. He suggested the importance of doing physical exercises daily for 30 to 45 minutes and of following a proper healthy diet minimising the usage of sugar and oil.
He exhorted all attendees to become physically fit and asked them to spread this message to the society. He added that our aim should be to develop a health culture across generations. He also demonstrated a push up exercise which he was planning to achieve as a world record.
At the end of the session, he interacted with the students and clarified their doubts. The talk came to an end with a Vote of Thanks by Mr Ramesh K V, Associate Professor, Physical Education Department of Vidya.
