VSEC organizes “Motivation Class” to the students of  SNMHSS Chazhur  School

Vidya Social Empowerment Center (VSEC) organized a Motivation class on 01 July 2022 as per the request from SNM HSS Chazhur school. The program was exclusively for Class 12th Science and Commerce students. More than 45 students participated in the session. The resource person for the programme were Ms Akhila R (Asst Prof, EEE Dept and the SAP representative member of VSEC) and Sreelakshmi S (S4 ECE Dept & VSEC Student Volunteer).

VSEC Student Volunteers showcase their talents as Resource Persons

Vidya provides every possible opportunity for the students to use their classroom learning for expressing creative ideas. Vidya also involves the students in the programs not as spectators but as contributors by showcasing their talents being Resource Persons.

With this motto, Vidya Social empowerment Center (VSEC) organized an internal talk on “Sustainability and Energy Conservation” on 2nd July 2022. VSEC Student Volunteers, Mr. Sakthi S (S4 ECE Dept), Mr. Jesto K J (S4 ECE Dept), and Mr Sanjo P Rejin (S4 ECE Dept) showcased their capabilities as resource persons during the session. VSEC Student Volunteers attended the program. This session marks the beginning of developing and exhibiting the talent of being a resource person.

VSEC conducts Training Program ‘Training of Trainers’

Vidya Social Empowerment Center ( VSEC), is an initiative to implement the social empowerment activities to empower the essential pillars of the society namely parents, children, youth and teachers. These essential pillars are categorised under VSEC as four wings namely Training, Moulding, Budding and Blooming. VSEC extends support to bolster self-confidence and self-responsibility to ensure a socially committed sustainable living by conducting training, awareness and motivational programmes in relevant topics.

Workshop on “Mentoring the Mentors” for school teachers

Vidya Social Empowerment Center (VSEC) organized a workshop on “Mentoring the Mentors” on 21 May 2022 in Advanced Computer Lab of the College. The resource person for the programme was Dr Seena Devaki, consultant psychiatrist, based in UK.

VSEC’s awareness program on Energy Conservation

In the modern world, energy is not merely for the future — it drives everything in the present.  Energy conservation has played an important role in improving energy efficiency. To create awareness about what real energy conservation techniques are and the theory behind them, a online program was conducted for the parents of school children under the auspices of SAP (Science Awareness Program) along with VSEC (Vidya Social Empowerment Center) on 16 January 2022 via Google Meet. Dr T V Vimalkumar (Assistant Professor and Research Guide, Dept of Physics, St Thomas College, Thrissur & District Coordinator, Energy Management Centre, Govt. of Kerala) was the resource person for the session and he delivered a talk on the topic “Energy Conservation for a Sustainable Future”. Mr Alex Chacko (AP, ME Dept) introduced the resource person.

VSEC’s six-day Empowerment Programme begins

Vidya Social Empowerment Center (VSEC) is an initiative of VICT-VAST to implement social empowerment activities mainly targeted at the students of the 6th to 12th standards of schools in Kerala As part of its activities, VSEC is organizing a six-day Empowerment Programme for school students during 10 – 15 January 2022. The overall objective of the program is to empower the students through a set of activities related to sports, video editing, science, motivational lectures and cyber security.

The programmes of the first two days were held through Zoom Platform with the support of Mr Shali K R, System Administrator. There were 139 registrations and the students actively participated in the Programme.

Sporteenova – A Sports Quiz Competition

“Sporteenova” was an Inter-School Quiz Competition organised by Vidya Social Empowerment Centre (VSEC) on 29 August 2021 and conducted in the online mode. The day 29th August was special, it being the National Sports Day in India and also the birth day of India’s legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. The quiz was themed on sports and related fields. As many as 417 students registered for the competition of whom as many as 345 participated.

An Interactive session on Exam Anxiety and Treasure Hunt

SAP organises Photography Contest for school students

As part of the activities under the auspices of the Science Awareness Programme (SAP) Project, and also in association with Vidya Social Empowerment Centre (VSEC), Vidya organised a Photography Contest based on the theme “Parents Day”.  The contest was open to all school students from 8th to 12th standards. The poster for the contest was released on 12 July 2021 in social media, facebook and Vidya website. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Akhila R (AP, EEE Dept), SAP Convener.

“Develop a Health Champion”

It was a programme organised by Vidya Social Empowerment Centre (VSEC)  and was targeted at the school students and students did indeed participate in large numbers in the programme. The star event of the programme was a talk on the theme “Develop  a Health Champion” by Mr Joby Michael M, Physical Director, Thiagarajar Polytechnic College, Thrissur and a Fitness Trainer. The programme was conducted at 6.30 pm on 10 July 2021 via Zoom platform.
